Fall in Colorado is pure magic, and for weddings. With golden aspens, crisp mountain air, and breathtaking landscapes, it’s no wonder so many couples choose this season to say “I do.” One of the most stunning Colorado wedding venues in which to experience this beauty is Spruce Mountain Ranch-a rustic yet elegant setting that offers everything a couple could dream of for their big day. True-to-color Colorado wedding photographer over here, and I’m just beyond thrilled to have had the opportunity to shoot this gorgeous fall wedding at this iconic venue. Today, I’m sharing all of the deets!
Why Spruce Mountain Ranch is the Perfect Venue for Your Colorado Wedding
Spruce Mountain Ranch is a dream wedding venue nestled in the foothills of Larkspur, Colorado. Boasting sprawling meadows, tall pines, and stunning Rocky Mountain views, this ideal mix of rustic charm and refined elegance will make your special day utterly unforgettable. The venue features a few different event spaces, which include the cozy barn-inspired Albert’s Lodge and the open-air elegance of Grace’s Chapel, providing both indoor and outdoor ceremony options.
But one of the coolest things about Spruce Mountain Ranch is that it’s versatile-from an intimate elopement to a grand festivity, it’s up to you. During the fall, the foliage is a bright color and sets up a perfect scene to add some natural splendor to your wedding photos.
A Dream Fall Wedding at Spruce Mountain Ranch
This wedding was, quite simply, a perfect example of why fall is such a perfect season for Colorado weddings. The bride and groom, in classic black-and-white elegance, exchanged vows under a beautifully adorned wooden arbor, with the panoramic views of golden fields and mountain peaks behind them. The ceremony was heartfelt and emotional, with guests seated against the amazing backdrop of changing leaves and endless blue skies.
The Ceremony: Rustic Romance with a View
This venue utilized the outdoor ceremony site with an arbor in place, adorned with lush greens and delicate white florals, both handcrafted. The bride wore a modern sleek wedding gown, while he wore a tuxedo that was black and timeless. It was golden aspens swaying behind them as they shared a first kiss as newlyweds-that was just a completely magical and film-like moment.
Golden Hour Portraits: Capturing True-to-Color Perfection
After the ceremony, we went out into the surrounding landscape for true-to-color wedding photography that captured the essence of a fall wedding in Colorado. The bride and groom strolled through golden meadows, holding hands, as the late afternoon sun filtered through the vibrant autumn leaves. As a photographer specializing in true-to-color editing, my goal was to preserve the rich hues of the season: golden foliage, deep blues of the Colorado sky, and earthy tones of the ranch’s rustic elements.
The Golden hour at Spruce Mountain Ranch is simply the most beautiful time. Warm and soft, it painted the gentlest of lighting on this beautiful couple, gracing some of the most phenomenal and organic images of the entire day. Instances like these I just love with Colorado weddings-organic, naturally beautiful ways your wedding is truly enhanced by simply the state in and of itself.
The Reception: A Cozy and Elegant Celebration
The reception took place inside Albert’s Lodge, with rustic wood beams and twinkling lights that set the tone for a cozy and intimate ambiance. Long farmhouse tables were adorned with lush greenery, candlelit accents, and pops of autumnal florals. The couple chose an intimate dinner so that their guests could enjoy the coziness and romance of the venue.
One of the many highlights of this evening was the toasts given by family and friends, full of humor and tears. Later that night, the dance floor was filled with guests dancing under the twinkling string lights. There was no mistaking the joy and love throughout the room as the night unfolded.
Why True-to-Color Photography Matters for Your Colorado Wedding
That means being able to look back and really feel like your photographs capture not only the beautiful colors of but the day of beauty. That is why this true-to-color Colorado wedding photographer was all about showcasing those natural tones of the captured moment. Everything deserves to come across just like real life allows the vibrant colors of fall to show, along with the tender gold sunlight or the deeper textures of Spruce Mountain Ranch.
Most photographers shoot with super heavy filters that make the colors of your wedding day look completely different, but I’m all about keeping colors true to life and timeless. When you look at your pictures in a couple of years, I want it to be exactly how it was that day: the golden trees, the deep greens, and pure joy in the air.
