Lauren and Joe had a beautiful intimate wedding with their closest friends and family on June 7th, 2019 in Breckenridge, CO at Sapphire Point.
This all start At the Grizzly Rose – David nail concert on February 20th, 2016. It was a night to remember. After this night Lauren knew there was something special there and even kept the concert ticket which was kept in a memory box of their relationship. The morning of their wedding with a surprise to Joe, Lauren gave Joe this box of memories that Lauren had been storing. It was so sweet to watch Joe open up this box. It took him back to that night at the Grizzly Rose
After three and a half years, it was time for Joe to ask Lauren to marry him, he took her on a hike with their adorable pups at chautauqua park in boulder. And I’m so happy I could be part of their big day. When Lauren first got in contact with me they were planning this large wedding at the top of the mountain in Winter Park. As the planning went on they stopped and realize they really just wanted their big day to be truly about them. They rented a VRBO in Breckenridge and had their family stay with them so they could enjoy their company for more than just a day.
They planned on not seeing each other except the night before when they were suppose to rehearse we watch the 6th game of the NHL payoff and forgot all about it. The STL blues ended up winning that game which set their wedding weekend off just right 🙂 then went on to win the Stanley cup that Wednesday. Therefore they had to do a 5 minute rehearsal with her grandad that morning to make sure he felt comfortable. The morning of their wedding Joe got ready upstairs and and Lauren and the girls got ready downstairs. This house was defiantly big enough for them to get ready without seeing each other.
One of my favorite parts was when Lauren and her dad did a first look. It like all the emotions started to flood and this man’s little baby girl was getting married. We left the rental house and headed for Sapphire Point. It was time for these two to get married.
I loved how during the ceremony they had their friends and family say a little something and give them some wedding advice. After the ceremony we left Sapphire Point and headed down the road to have some fun. These two really did make my job look so easy. They truly enjoyed each others company and just loved every minute of their day.
Once we arrived back to the rental house they had their first dance to Millionaire by Chris Stapleton which was fitting because after a the Chris Stapleton concert in May of 2016 Joe told Lauren he loved her for the first time.
I asked Lauren a few questions about her wedding:
How would you describe your overall Colorado wedding experience? “The absolutely best day ever. there was just so much laughter and joy that radiated that day.”
What Advise would you give other brides planning their Mountain wedding? “Try not to stress. Obviously its easier said than done but enjoy the experience as it won’t happen again. Have your partner” just as involved so the weight of planning is equally distributed.
What photography-related advice would you offer to a couple? “Don’t settle. I interviewed 3 other photographers before I choose Danna Frost Photography:) Have peace with your decision. Also absolutely do an engagement shoot to know how you and your partner look together and see what things you want to change for your wedding day.
Tell me about your wedding dress. Where did you find, how did you choose it, how did you know it was the one? “I knew I wouldn’t be able to do a lot of wedding planning with my mom since everyone was in Alabama. So, that was the one thing I wanted to make sure I got her and my grandmothers opinion on. I choose to take a trip home for dress shopping. I tried on maybe 10 and I knew this was the one by the look in my moms eyes when I put it on. This dress was a perfect mix for saying I was from Alabama ( the pearls and lace ) and that I love living in Colorado as a boho style dress.
Any tips that you have about preparing your wedding party for the photos? What did you tell them, how did you get them to cooperate, what did you do or what would you have done differently? “Oh gosh I thought this was going to be a disaster with 7 kids but they all got their naps in and it showed in the pictures! The only thing I asked of the wedding party which was the entire wedding crew was to watch what color they wore. No greens or blues as I didn’t want anyone to blend into the back ground. Other than that to just have fun.”
How was your experience working with me? “It’s was perfect. It’s was the right amount of your taking charge and doing what you needed to do to get all the photos but then grabbing my attention when needed. You made us feel so comfortable, almost like you were our family friend.”
Any tips on how to prepare for the mountain wedding photos? “If you have specific photos you want a head of time let your photographer know. They can have a list that way that’s one less thing you have to work about that day. Also if there any props you want to use have a bag ready to go and give it to your photographer- again one less thing you have to work about.”
Any tips on what to bring to your wedding? “A smile and tissues. It’s the best day of your life- relax and seize the day.”
What were you most anxious, nervous or fearful about regarding your wedding day and what was the outcome? “The weather honestly was my biggest worry the day before the wedding. There was no back up plan. I prayed the night before, put it in Gods hands, and didn’t look at the weather app all the next day I shear confidence that He has it under control. The next day came and we could not have ask for better weather conditions”
